How do we locate where the hot water stop cock is?
We are trying to mend a leaking hot water tap but don't know where we first turn the hot water stop cock (if that's what you call it). Under the sink is the cold tap stop cock but we can't locate the hot one. Help
yes but you will waste a lot of hot water as whole tank will need to empty!

In my airing cupboard is a hot water cylinder.
A 22mm pipe entering close to the bottom of the tank (there's a drain cock on the pipe) has a control tap a bit higher up. If I close this tap off the hot water runs for 30 seconds or so and then stops.
If you have a similar installation you should look for the stop tap you seek on the pipe that enters the bottom of the storage tank.

There may not be one, but if there is, it will be in the vicinity of the copper hot water cylinder usually. If you cant find one, turn the cold supply off, open the hot tap(s) and the system will empty.
