Mend Network Bought Phone

How do i get network coverage/?

Ok i bought this phone off ebay and she said it was unlocked.I downloaded the soft ware but it says no network coverage.I can play games and listen to the songs and use the camera and video But not call or text.What can i do to fix this? Thanx Belinda
