rear end or tranny out?

just bought a 1999 simplicity landlord v twin 16.the trannys out or the rear end.it has the rear end that if one side slips the other side kicks in.here what i have.let the clutch padle out and it make noise and in nutrel to.take the belt of and it dont so i took the rear end out.now is there any way that it could be.rebuilt or cheaper buying used one.thank Bill
