My cordless phone fell into the sink, any repair advice?

Sanyo Cordless Phone CLT-1861, how do I get it completely dried out? Will it work once it's dry? Anything else I can do to try and save it?

My cordless AT&T phone fell into sink, ever so briefly. Took it apart, used the heater,: can't find any water anywhere--don't have rice. Any other ideas? It now won't charge, no lights, unusable.

I put it in my small oven at 100 degrees for an hour. Didn't work at all. Read a hint to put it in a plastic bag with rice to sort of bury it. Left it in all day...while using my land phone, the cordless one started to cause a very noisy interference. Had to hang up. Left it in the bag with rice all night. Next morning it was good as new...in fact, the small date, etc., which I never could read, is clear enough to read now. I was ready to replace the phone, thinking it was beyond repair. Hurray for the rice hint.

By the way, I need Manual for Sanyo CLT-1861.
Any suggestions - to find it online ?

Yes you can save your phone. Take out the battery. Look and see if there are a couple of phillips screws holding the case togeather. Remove those screws and the cordless phone should now be able to be seperated top from bottom. This exposes the solid state circuit board. Take a can of Gas Duster ( the compressed air in a can you use on your computer) and blow out the moisture. Now take and gently dry the CB board with a hair dryer on LOW. Then let phone sit over nite by a heat register and then reasemble the cordless phone the next morning and it should work. I dropped my cordless phone into a big coffee mug full of coffee and I did the above procedure and it works fine today.

Thanks jonathon,

I set the phone aside for a couple of weeks, hooked it up again & it works fine.

Well its a 50/50 chance.Depending how long its been in the water. If it is less than 2 minutes there is a chance to save it by drying it out completely.Dismantling the phone and drying out the parts.Any longer and its had it.But just dry it out and see what you get. Hope this helps
