how to fix my escort 1.8 si oil leak?

Yes while engine is running its pumping oil up to the vavles in the cover so definately can be a messy leak because it will drain down on exhaust manifold and cause smoke and oil burning smell if not sure where its leaking there is a oil dye leak detector out at your local parts store ...the one we use @ dealership can be detected usin a black lite

Yes it can easy way is just to clean engine off start it up and watch where it comes from.
