any clues how to rectify?

normally for the fuel to run back to the tank air has to enter the system which would result in fuel leaking during normal running, check the leak off pipes on each injector , as this is where most fuel system leaks occur, but i would look at the preheating system first, glow plugs, relay etc , as poor morning staring is normally attributed to this
