i had the same problem, try striping the carb and blowing it through. also clean the petrol filter in the tank and clean the air filter, mine started first time after doing this and has not let me down since.

Update to previous post. Found block in the carb. Forced petrol through and all appeared fine but needed pressure so dismantled carb, blew jets and all channels. Works as before......forgot how noisy it was !

I am having the same problem but I have confirmed it is not the spark or timing by pouring fuel into the carb. I have replaced all the carb's gaskets and still petrol will not flow into the engine. Before I replaced the gaskets I used a syringe to force fuel through the carb....and the enginer ran until I ran out of fuel. If anybody has a diagram for the carb so I can check for blockages.....that would be great.

One particular part that is always vulnerable on all McCulloch items has always been the magneto.
This is mounted near the base of the engine beneath the Cylinder Pot. and will require the flywheel removing to get at it. You'll need a flywheel puller to get that off and then look for a replacement from a hardware breakers, like Grass n Ground in Crewe or similar. At least you can get the item tested there to see if it is that item at fault.

To test if it is your mag that has blown. Simply make sure eveything is connected up, remove the spark plug and with the HT cap still on touch it against the engine casing. Pulling on the starter cord will tell you if you have a spark or a duff magneto.

If you are getting a spark then the next place to look is the carburettor. But only disassemble this if you know its not the coil, as stripping this is not an easy job either.

Kind regards
