Water does not drain. Overheats?

Whirlpool Diplomat Dishwasher. Water does not drain. Overheats. Does not appear to be a blockage. Can you help please?

If you hold down the start button for a few seconds does the pump not kick in and drain away the water? If it does I suspect it could be the cycle program is somehow corrupted. If not it could be just the pump that needs replacing - both would require a tech I suspect
