Mend Plumbing Temperature Hot Water

not enough hot water in tank!?

when hot tap opened fully on bath i only get few inches of hot water before running cold, but if i trickle run i can get enough hot/warm water for a bath. temp of water is v. hot to begin with but just not enough of it. any ideas why?
