My Laptop Battery will not charge?

I have a Asus A3000 series laptop and athough I have been folling good advice as far how I should not fully charge or drain my battery I recon and it's just a guess that it's caput/died/expired gone to the the other batteries in the big blue sky.On the other hand it might be the connector on the back that's damaged so short of taking it to a rip-off merchant is there any advice you could offer .... and please don'rt say BIN IT !!
