Dual flush toilet, not flushing?

I have a Vernon Tutbury dual flush toilet, when the long flush button was pressed this morning there was a click and no flush. The toilet is almost 10 years old. I have removed both buttons and removed the screw so that I could investigate. The inner workings of the system are a mystery to me. I tried moving the centre column but this had no effect. Any ideas.

Same thing happened to me , I glued the plastic push rod back but the mechanism was then too stiff to naturally drop down on its own. The only way to fix this was add more weight to the rod.

A quick and easy solution was to use something heavy such as a few 1p coins you can add about 10-20 inside the device used to control the water flow level.

So the weight on the pushrod is really heavy. The only other solution was to repair the device but its going to cost you.

Hi, I have just had a similar problem. Once you have accessed the cistern remove the centre column by pressing the clips either side at the base and remove. You will find the water keeps running but don't worry. Inside the column you will see a green fitting with a white rod through the middle and teeth on either side. Inside this is another fitting with 4 prongs at the top. The 4 prongs should clip into the round piece fitting directly above. The prongs on mine had snapped off and had come apart from the piece above so this might have been the click you heard. I have just pushed them back into the fitting so that the prongs protrude about 1/4 inch above the round piece and glued them in place. Make sure you only glue the prongs so that they stick to the piece above. You don't want the glue to be below as it may cause the teeth piece to stick to the prong piece. These 2 pieces have to move freely up and down. Leave to dry and put the column back in place. Mine is now working. Sorry this is so complicated. Hope this helps.

Hi, the button you removed should be cosmetic, and you should still be able to flush via the button underneath. it sounds like the plastic pushrod has snapped.
