Mend Engine Warning Light Petrol

unknown warning light?

I have noticed an amber warning light underneath the petrol gage, the symbol looks like a water valve but I don't know what it means. It is on constantly now but sometimes it used to just appear in the morning when the engine was cold.

Any ideas?
