Hi, it means the Engine managment system has detected a serious fault and has gone into protective "limp home" mode, you need to get it hooked up to a diagnostic code reader ASAP to prevent damage!! you don't have to go to a main dealer as any good independant garage or tyre & exhaust place will have the required equipment to fault find and will be a lot cheaper than the dealer around £20~30 dealer £100+
