A lot depends on your confidence at diagnosing and replacing such an item. This could also be due to a faulty thermostat. Not knowing what make or model you have usually the thermostat is either on the element itself or usually above the element. There maybe two in which you will have to replace both. Check the element and make sure that all the fine wire elements are attached and not broken. If they are than replace the element but also replace any thermostats if they do not come with the element.Make sure that the thermostats are replaced are the same as what you have removed.
Good Luck!!
