I have a 06 Vauxhall Zafira 120 diesel and just recently the engine management light started to come on and the car lost power. After a couple of days it stopped doing this and drove normally. However it started to do it again and then the car was stalling/ jumping when in 1st and 2 nd gear and eventually cut out altogether and wouldn't start It is now with a dealer. Any ideas?

I had a similar problem and it turned out to be oil in where the spark plugs are due to the rocker cover gasket leaking. Got it fixed and problem solved.

Most probable cause will be either the mass airflow sensor(MAP) or a blockage in one of the EGR valves or vacuum lines.

Sounds like the dreaded crankshaft sensor which are notorious on the Vauxhalls. Be prepared for £100 bill.
