cd on sharp cd-c471 stereo unit?

the cd on my sharp stereo cd-c471 has stopped working. it has not been used for a few months and has not been knocked or anything although the cd turns it says there is no disc even when there is disc in there
the radio and casette works fine otherwise thanks
