how can i adjust my renault clio x reg, handbrake cable?

From underneath the car, remove the exhaust heatshield and there is a nut to adjust the handbrake.
Do not use it to compensate for worn brake shoes, however. These are self-adjusting and if they are not functioning properly, the rear brake assemblies need to be looked at.
