White screen on a Samsung SGH-S400i?

Hi my Samsung SGH-S400i screen dispaly is broken the screen used to go on and off or become blurred when opening and closing but now it is gone completely .The screen is constantly white and I am unable to see the display. I have a new phone but would like to copy my old contacts and some other details from thephone to my sim . .does any one have a solution to my problem....? If i use a data cable will that transfer my contacts to my pc . . ?
