how do i fix heat damage to a varnished and stained wood table?

A friend was ironing and used her kitchen table. She put cloth over the wood but not enough and the heat turned the varnish finish sort of white. There is no other damage other than the varnish turning white. How can this be repaired?

Toothpaste, sounds odd but it works. Put a good blob on the bit thats damaged and rub vigourously with a dmap cloth. It might take a few goes but you should see a difference. Polish with bees wax after.
