fault code f08 and f10 on a hotpoint ctd80?

I had a fault of f10 so looking at the element it was damaged, and did a multimeter test on the 3 thermostats, which was also broke. I changed the heater and stats to find it is still not working, there is no reset button. Very puzzled and annoyed, please help, hotpoint ctd80g dryer

I have fault code F-07 but when I look it up it states there is no f07 ? Anyone ? Lol I had the f10 originally and done the pin reset just wondering if this has in some way contributed thanks.

Had the F 08 & F 10 faults appear quick google turned up this website

Took top and sides off the machine gave it a good hoover out then pushed the pin into the little hole as suggested above reassembled and hey presto Bob is a close relative

been running 10-15 mins now and all still good thanks to all posters above for the help

Hi, This is not a cure but might stop the thermostats tripping again. I had the thermostat trip problems a few times. I then decided to plug the dryer into an RCD then into the wall socket. The RCD trips before the thermostat does. Let it cool down then just reset the RCD. No more pulling the machine apart.

F10 flashing, so took the back off and did the pin prick in the thermostat, sorted. I then put a load on the 20 mins or so later, F10 starts flashing again. Do the whole process again, clean filter, and the water condenser thingy and the thing at the bottom left hand side of the machine. Now its saying F-8- Pump fault. To be honest, I have noticed water coming from the bottom of the machine. I guess thats the fault for tripping the thermostat in the first place? Any ideas what I need to do without spending a fortune?

Brilliant fix, many thanks for the advice. In my case, the drum had got stuck so the hot air was not circulating which tripped the stat. Took the opportunity to strip the top & sides off, vac out all the 5 years worth of fluff and lubricate where I could. Probably in need of some new bearings but it'll do for now.

Hi, can anyone help me? we have had the same problem with the f08 and f10 fault, we took the back off and reset and worked fine then it just happens again and again and now it just tripps the electric, its driving me mad such an ordeal to keep pulling out and taking apart, thinking off just getting rid of it. can anyone help me?

I've had the F-10 problem and the dryer has been out of service for six months. Fixed it in ten minutes following these instructions. Mine has three black components (think all three were thermostats) above the heating element. They are a similar diameter to a penny. The one on the left had a hole in the centre of it and after inserting a thin nail there was a loud click. Works like magic.

hi have a ctd80p conds/dryer f10 appeared reset thermostate worked nfine for about 15mins then just shut down,lights working apart from the lcd light flickerin but has been doing this for months just no power i took the heater element of and noticed the coils were broke i ordered a new one at the cost of 45 quid and fitted.. now its still dead light flickers but no power now displayin fault codes f04 f04 and f15 any body no whats happin ive 3 young kids and drying cloths outdoors in belfast is a problem lol many thanks nigel....

Not sure about F8 but F10 probably means the thermostat has tripped. It's a common fault with these tumble dryers - ours has failed on at least 4 occasions now. I've discovered that it may be possible to fix it by resetting the thermostat:

Unplug the machine!
Remove the heater assembly (rear of the machine - two screws to remove the spindle cover then another half dozen screws and the heater assembly comes away).
Take out the heater - two screws hold it in.
At the top are two thermostats - a white one and a black one. The black one has a small hole in it and can be reset by pushing a pin into the hole until a 'click' noise is heard.
Reassemble, plug back in and test.
Note that even if this fixes the problem the unit will probably show F10 a few weeks later; I think it's just the way these machines are - a design fault.

If the above doesn't solve the problem then it may be worth buying replacement thermostats - a kit will include both the black and the white one and cost around £25.

(CTD80P) I had an F08 error code. I pushed a paper clip into the hole.
I didn't hear a click. I also Cleaned all the crud off the other side of the thermostats and hey presto its cleared the error and the dryer appears to be working perfectly.

My tumbledryer has been stood in my kitchen not working for about 2 years!!! I have 3 children and am a single parent, I work 5 days a week and now the winter is here am struggling to get all my washing dry. After deciding to google a way to fix it I came across this site.

To add, I cleaned out so much rubbish coins etc from underneath the filter, although the filter had been cleaned each time it was used -the bottom gets overlooked, hence the thermo trip. Will clean this now routinely

My CTD80 was completely dead - no lights, no errors - nada! Decided to try the thermostat reset trick anyway. Instant Success! Thanks very much.

When you take the large metal plate off the back of the drier you will see the 4 elements (bars/coils with fins!). separate the plate from the element bracket by removing the 2 screws. there are 3 round cylinder type electrical connectors, there will be a black one with a hole (approx 2mm) poke a small pin into it and you will hear a click. This is the Bi-Metallic thermo cut out device. as it has tripped once it will have slightly weakened the "sprung contact", This may cause it to trip again a little while later. A new thermostat will be required if it keeps returning. I forgot to clean the condensor unit on a monthly basis, this, I am sure was the cause!! :)

Forgive me for being daft but what exactly do the thermostats look like ? I have something black in my hand but dont seem to be able to see anything white that resembles this so im not sure if im doing the right thing. I have the same problem and have dismantled most parts on the back but the black item I have I cant seem to see a hole in which to insert a pin, many thanks if someone can help me, kiond regards Paul.

My Hotpoint VTD65 tumble tryer started flashing up the f-08 code after I changed the belt. Thought I'd done something wrong!!!
All fixed, put back and up and running after 10 mins.

Who would of thought of sticking something in that hole to make it work.

FIXED AS EASY AS THAT oh my god I cant believe I just fixed my HOTPOINT ULTIMA CONDENSER DRYER
my machine was showing code F10 & F8 I had got so fed up with it I had just got my daughter to help me move it to the garden..... then had the idea (once Id calmed down) to have a go fixing it myself. as nothing to loose, and No Dryers available to be delivered until after xmas.....
My dryer had 3 thermostates but only 1 hole to reset.

Followed loads of advise. Took pump apart and disconnected hoses looking blockages.... Fixed as follows: - Switch off at plug, select a different programme cycle (i.e. pre-wash), switch back on and start it. F-08 fault has now stopped and washer is working fine.

your heater elements keep on going because you must not open the door till the dryer cools, if opens when hot your elements will burn out! as the fan stops stright away.

Mine says f-03
the dryer heats up for 30 seconds then f-03 appears and the heat turns off leavign dryer unresponsive and spinning in the opposite direction

I did as you mentioned below for my CTD85 dryer and this seems to have rectified the F10 problem for now at least. I couldnt believe how easy this was to do myself and saved me the hassle of trying to contact hotpoint service centre to arrange for an engineer to call out and repair it.

One thing that I have learnt from this experience is to NEVER buy anything from Hotpoint again!!!!

i had an hotpoint ctd85 that triped the rcd, found the mica holding the heater elements in place was damp (beyond repair) replaced with new heater from espares now ok. prior to that i also re-soldered most of the joints on the control pcb this seemed to cure the fault codes associated with the heater relay

Reset thermostat as suggested thanks, working ok now. The lower air channel at the bottom front of dryer was badly polluted, removed parts and cleaned with jet washer. this was restricting air flow and probably caused heater to trip.

Many thanks for this. Managed to fix my tumble dryer at half ten last night when I had to have the kids clothes dry for the morning.
The other problem with this machine is that you must remember to clean both the filter and the condenser unit on a more regular basis than most machines - oh and hoover the back of it. Otherwise it may trip the RCB.

James's answer worked perfectly for me. We have a CTD80G and suddenly got an F10 which meant the dryer never heated up, but just span round.

There's more like 8 or 9 screws round the heater element, but otherwise spot on - thank you James!

Had these alarms every other day. Both pump & heater have been replaced on several occasions & they still appeared. Hopoint engineer gave up & ordered me a new machine.
