how can i fix my starview box?

thanks mick dont have anyone with old computer but will go to maplins and get cable and driver then i hope you dont mind me getting in contact with you again to show me how to do it many thanks gordon

sorry gordon for takeing so long to get back , i got lost with other questions , you can get a usb to 9pin rs232 lead from maplins , but you must get the drivers for it , can be a pain , (maplins) do you know anybody that has a old pc/ or laptop . they have them on them , the best way to do it is with the null cable, 9 male pin , to 9 male pin , (maplins ) they say you can use the usb to rs232 converter ,but if you get make sure that you get a disk with it for the drivers , that will work with your verision of windows , try get a old pc from a friend , only takes 10 mins ..

hi mick my starview box has the 9 pin male but my laptop is a toshiba and only has a female 15 pin i dont know if this is what you mean or do i have to get laptop with 9 pins thanks gordon

the first thing you must have to flash any box , is a pc/ laptop ,, with a rs232 port on it, if you dont know what that is , take a look at the back of the starview, and you will see one marked on it , rs232, , well you need the same port on your pc/ labtop, because you have to link up the starviewbox to the pc, with a null 9 pin cable ,male to male cable, so you can send the flash file firmwear" from the pc to the starview box , via , the null cable , so check that out first ,, mick
