Mend Nintendo DS Lite Console

Anyone know whats wrong with my DS Lite?

When you switch on it asks you to reset settings (nickname/colour/date/time). When you shutdown to accept changes and then start it just comes back up with reset settings message again. Anyone any ideas what the problem is?
