ipod mini lost my playlist. How can I get it back?

I was trying to see if I could download my Ipod tunes to a new computer as backup. I did something and the entire playlist just disappeared. There was no deleting or any other application running it just was gone. This is I believe first generation Ipod Mini....Any help
