Mend Nissan Micra Cvt Transmission

1995 nissan micra cvt transmission?

I am having difficulty selecting D or R from the N "neutral" position, it is very notchy or stiff, feels like trying to select a gear in a manual gearbox with a worn clutch, is this a big problem?
