How can I fix a Portable DVD player touched by a Magnet?

My son touched his Portable DVD player with a magnet and the screen went blank. He touched it on the side of the screen frame. You can barely see the start-up screen. I was able to turn up the brightness and contrast but this had no effect. Lots of sound but no picture. Is this fixable? It is an Element.
