how can I fix my Hotpoint Aquarius 1200 De Luxe WM31?

Loaded the machine this morning,used a hotter temp with faster spin cycle. All was well until spin cycle came on . I t then sounded as though the machine was about to self destruct. I was concerned about the neighbours (sunday). The drum was spinning but with a loud banging noise. I stopped the machine and opened the door. the bdrum appears to turn smoothly and fairly freely by hand but there appears to be alot of front to back play on theaxis of spin. help! Richard
