citroen c3 hdi "54" lack of power?

hi... my Citroen c3 has a water leak.. i can see water coming from the engine just underneath the manifold...

Some of the injectors fitted to the 1.4 hid engine have a chamber inside full of diesel for lubrication which outputs to the leak off unions if these injectors are laid flat when removed this chamber empties and unfortunately cannot be re primed when the injectors are refitted the engine will start and run ok but be really flat as if the turbo isn't boosting,this is a result of the injector not being able to open correctly as its air locked,the injectors are now scrapp buy 4 new ones at 250 pounds each plus fitting and coding ,this is the harsh truth about modern diesel high pressure systems,I would recommend a used car warranty for all modern used diesels.

we had a severe lack of power on our 2003 c3 1.4 hdi and i traced it to a small pipe disconnected (think its a vacuum pipe ) The location is awkward to describe but if you remove the right forward wheel and get a torch you will see a small box 6 inches x 2 inches bolted to the rear bottom part of the engine with 3 small pipes connected to it. 1 at the bottom and 2 on the end. check both ends of the 3 pipes it could be the problem. i had no engine check light on just very low in power . pipe refitted engine power restored

i have been looking at a similar fault on my wifes car and came across a forum where once the injectors were replaced they had to be resynchronised with the cars engine control unit(ECU) using the citroen diagnostic equipment and that apparently sorted it hope this helps

Hi Martin .. Did you ever get your C3 loss of power sorted in 2009. I have just read you report and you could be descibing my 04 1.4 HDi 8v problem. Like you I had the injector seals replaced because of a blow on number 4 injector and a full service , now I have no mid/topend power. I have to drop a gear on some inclines. There are no fault codes and the garage looked at it again to see if they had done anything wrong. I have done as much as a DIYer can ( checked for leaks and any loose conections etc.). Could you please let me know if you have a posible solution. Many thanks
