how can i fix my LEC fridge?

I have a LEC fridge L5526W approx 3 years old - which is icing up - it is supposed to be an auto defrost but ice is forming on the back wall. I've turned the temp down but it makes no difference - does it need a new thermostat if so is this likely to be a cost effective repair.
