Channel Tuning?

I have a problem tuning. I'm certain I have all the connections correctly set up, but when I do an Auto tune, it never finds any channels. I don't have an aerial, just a Sky+ HD box and a scart running from the Sky+ box to the DVD recorder AV2 socket, and a scart running from the TV to the DVD recorder AV1 socket. I can watch a DVD no problem but it won't record.
