When I turn on with the remote or the main switch
it makes kind of a bong sound then click click but does not come on. If I wait 3 to 4 hrs I can try again and it
will come on. The standby light comes on when its not working.
If it's a older style CRT TV the it sounds like the picture tube is gone. Time to upgrade to an LCD. It would be more expensive to repair than replace.
