Mend Alternator Battery Fault

Battery Light?

I was driving to work this morning and my battery light illuminated for a while and then went off, a while later it came back on and then went off, the fault did not have any affecton the car but I am wondering if this is the start of something, ie battery, alternator, or wiring, hope that you can supply an answer.

I would guess a poor connection made worse and corrected by the motion of the car - I would first suspect a bad earth - but I know nothing...
