How do I remove the top of my washing machine?

How can I remove the top of a Servis M6003 washing machine. I've taken out the screws at the back and the back of the top lifts up, but something else seems to be holding it.

Having first removed the 2 retaining screws at the back, just under the lid, you will see 2 small hexagonal nuts, close to the screws, one on each side of the lid. Unscrew these and withdraw the long rods that are attached to the front of the machine, just a couple of centimetres and this will allow the top to be pulled backwards and removed.
