Take out the one screw at the rear of the machine, under the cord winder housing.
Now the screws holding down the top plate: one near the control panel in the front, one in the carry handle, and 2 under the blower slide door toward the back. Be aware there are 2 wires connecting your switch that will be moving when you loosen the cover, so just carefully slide the plate to the side so you don't disconnect them. Now the 2 screws on top, at the back. Now the cord reel can be taken slid out. You might need to pry it little from the body. Disconnect the 2 wires from the cord reel cover. Take out the 4 screws holding the cover on. In there, inspect for damage or broken parts. Put some oil on the spring. Pay attention to the cord plug end, it might want to coil while you are working on it. Not fun when it's the first time working on it, but they usually recoil again. Good luck.
