heater element replacement?

i have located the element on the back of the drum, undone the bolt which i assume holds the unit in place, but cannot get the element out of the drum, i do not want to apply too much force as i do not want to damage the drum, can anyone help ? thank you

im assuming this is on a modern washing machine? you would need to check how the element is sealed. ive noticed on newer machines the elements are moulded into the plastic housing of the drum. im guessing this is to stop the need for a seal that could leak, and its easier for engineers to strip out and replace the whole unit rather than smaller components. food for thought, but thats where id start looking

you just have to lever or prise it out of its rubber seal -it may require some effort. Replace heater, use sealant when refitting rubber seal and ensure it is fully pushed into the recess in the backplate. Make sure the element locates into mounting bracket inside the drum.(look inside the element with a torch and you will see mounting bracket). This bracket ensures that the moving inner drum doesnt strike the element and damage it.
