I have the same problem my proform treadmill just quit working. The consil lights up but when you push the buttons nothing happens. The fan works but the incline and the speed buttons do not seem to do anything.
Mine did the same thing today, just went dead while in use, I just unplugged the darn thing waited a few seconds and then turned it off while standing on the floor beside the unit. Works fine except the speed reads a little high, might be compensation due to no one walking on the belt.
A little cleaning and light lubrication and belt tightening might helps things too. Make sure you are sitting on a flat surface too.
