Great thread. I have a pro333. -11. Serial number 05101659436
Called the manufacturer 1-800-558-5700. The rep said this model was built in 2005. I bought this house in 2013 and disposal came with it.
Recently I noticed it leaking from the bottom. The weep holes and around the circuit breaker (scary. Thank you grounding wire)
Any way I replaced it with a badger 500 and then found this thread. I got to be honest- seems as the majority here are frustrated and don't provide fixes just exasperation. That's completely understandable.
Earlier in the thread a guy said his wife removed 4 screws and remove be the bottom of the unit.
I'd replaced my unit by then so I had nothing to loose tearing apart the old one. It was a. 3/4hp model. Fierce chomper. Never stalled. I couldn't just throw it away with out doing a post mortem. :)
To get the base off:
The pro333-11 I have has a plastic sound suppression collar around it. Take that off. It's all plastic do it bends a bit. The plastic locks are where the drain and dishwasher tubes are. There are 3 connections that hold this collar together. Look closely and you'll see the front of a triangulated clip and a spot you can put a skinny screwdriver ( I used a steak knife tip, it was nearby , first thing available.:). )
Anyway. Remove the plastic insulative skirt. The B-500 doesn't have one by the way.
Now. With the top op the disposal face down bottom up. You'll see 4 fasteners heads. Mine is a 5mm head. Yours might be different but I doubt it. It wouldn't be cost effective for the manufacturer to buil these thing using different hardware for each model
Remove the fasteners. They are pretty long. About half the link of the disposal.
After you remove them you'll have to put a little effort into removing the bottom cover. At least I did. Maybe you'll get lucky and the bottom will come off easily. Mine didn't. I used a screw driver, insert it in the gap between the upper and lower body. Work your way around twist - turn. Reap eagerly around the circumference Eventually you'll get the two pieces away from each other enough to pull them apart. I put the top (the heavy end) between my legs to hold and pulled on the bottom.
It comes off a little difficult because there is a seal holding it together. It's the same seal that should be keeping water from escaping but has failed.
Once you get it opened it's pretty ugly and smells like stinky decomposing rot
The next step is to clean off all that gunk.
That's where I'm at now. I'm pretty sure I can clean it down to new looking. Then I'll need to buy a tube of gasket sealer. Something water proof.
The manufacturers of these disposals are crooks in my opinion. Every thing about them is decent quality except for the bottom seal. They should have used something more everlasting and endurant
I'm going to fix this one and shelve it till my current badger starts leaking. Unless the motor dies these units are very well built and would last long if not for the sub-par bottom seal.
