what do i do to fix my car key for a vauxhall astra?

Sorry to be the bearer of bad tidings...
sounds likely its the central locking solenoid (cheapest first) approx £25-£35 but with labour etc garage will cost the wrong side of £100 especially main dealer.
If not central locking solenoid could be motor (unlikely) and lots more ££'s
No it's tough to get someone to fix as it's door trim off removal of handles etc then fighting past window mechanisms etc in the door then detecting which solenoid is k'put...
