Vauxhall Zafira 1.6 cuts out then Engine electronics comes on?

I was driving along and pulled up at some traffic lights in my 04 plated 1.6 Vauxhall Zafira. I then noticed that all the lights on teh dashboard came on as if I had stalled but I didn't stall. I then turned the ignition key a couple of times and nothing happened. After a couple more turns the engine started to turn over then so I kept turning the key and pressed the accelerator button in and eventually got the car going again. Throughout my journey one light remained on and that was a picture of a car with a spanner on. Think the light indicates a electrical problem. Prior to this the engine made no noises or anything, Just cut out on me for no apparent reason and after a bit of persuasion it got going again. I completed my journey without any further problems but the light remained on. When I returned to my car and turned the car on the light was no longer on as it was before.

Car now seems fine but just worried incase it happens again.

i have the same kinda problem was driving along EM light came on engine stalled and wont start
EM light came on last week so took it into the garage had to change plugs and coil pack cleaned EGR and injeckers also changed fuel filter but car wont start for me

THE EGR VAVLE HAS GONE ON MY ZAFIRA FOR THE LASY 3 YEARS IN A ROW NOW ANY IDEA WHY????

I have a Zafira 1.6 2003 model. I could be driving at 70 mph on the motorway and all lights come on the dashboard and engine cuts out. THIS PROBLEM HAS NOW BEEN RESOLVED, 1500 MILES WITHOUT A PROBLEM...!! I took it to guy who used to work for Vauxhalls. He has his own garage now. As I walked into his garage there were five other Vauxhall cars all with same problem. He looked under the bonnet and applied following 3 fixes - unsure which one resolved the problem though:
(1) EGR gasket fitted was NOT the modified one. He changed gasket. The modified has a protruding notch which you can feel.
(2) Cleaned around throttle valve
(3) Reset / updated the car software.
He thinks that it was the last item that fixed the problem.

my car done nearly the same, only the problem carried on for about 40 minutes, i had to keep going because i was 50 miles from home, 8.30 ish at night with 2 young children. we put the car into a vauxhall dealership who found out it was the EGR (Exhaust Gas Return) valve, £70 for valve, £124 labour but it worked, hopefully this will help.

Get an engineer with a laptop to do a diagnostic. Vauxhall dealer or one with programme. If that shows up nothing then you are all ok.

The zafira ( and I have had four) sometimes seem to work loose the fuse area aftera bumpy road or sudden stop. All you do is push each fuse and all will be fine again
