I recently bought a Lexmark X3690 (combined printer, scanner & copier).
I followed the instructions as per the Lexmark manual & disc.
When I've done all this & then attach the USB cable the following happens:-
On my PC running Vista
- it recognises the new hardware correctly as Lexmark X3690
- it updates to say that the device is ready for use
- it adds Lexmark X3690 as a printer
- I then attempt to print a document & it works fine, first time
On my PC running XP Home
- it recognises the new hardware correctly as Lexmark X3690
- it updates to say that the device is ready for use
- it adds Lexmark X3690 as a printer
- I then attempt to print any document & it fails with
- PC cannot communicate with the printer etc .......
- I have rebooted the PC
- I have switched off all firewalls & anti-virus stuff
- I kave uninstalled & reinstalled several times on XP Home machine
I am using the same physical USB cable as used with Vista above
I am using the same Lexmark install disc as used with Vista above
Is there any reason why this printer will not work correctly on Windows XP Home & can you advise on possible resolution to this problem?
PS
It works fine as a copier/scanner in standalone mode when not attached to a PC
