when changinging the engine on a renault megane scenic is it removed through the top with or without the gearbox or remove the subframe and drop it out the bottom
i have bought a new engine and was wondering how much it would cost to remove the old one and replace it with my new one

hi im just going to change my clutch on my 1.6 1998 scenic , how easy is it to remove subframe , can i unbolt gearbox whilst leaving engine in car and just jiggle the gearbox out , any hints welcome

If you lower the n/s subframe and remove aircleaner and coolant header tank you can wiggle the gearbox out of the top-much easier than dropping the subframe

ive just changed the clutch on 1.6 petrol megane scenic and was shocked to find that the complete engine and gearbox had to be removed, i dropped the subframe and lowerd the the complete unit from the bottom, as it turned out it was quite a straight forward procedure if not a little niggily at times.

Hi.
These are difficult cars to remove engine. Renault workshop repair guides (used by renault garages) suggests removal of subframe and dropping the engine with gearbox attached from below, then seperating.
It also suggests doing this just for changing the clutch
