what has stopped working?.reading between the lines you mention the motor so if its the motor thats not going round it could be the capacitor fastened to the motor thats faulty (silver round tube with wire attached).there are no motor brushes as its a induction motor.with the lid off start the machine going.if the drum doesn't move manually push it and with you help it should start to rotate.if it does 100% capacitor faulty.MIND YOUR FINGERS WHEN DOING THIS AS MOVING PARTS AND ELECTRIC ITEMS ARE EXPOSED.
