how to fix a dvd player when your home electricity went out?

How do you fix your dvd player when you lost power to your house due to a storm and now it won't go on.

Have you tried unplugging the unit and leaving it for 24 hours. then plug it in again. Sometimes this will help electronics forget their "Shock to the system" It worked for my Hi-Fi and my PC
