My dvd player is B&W and image is very "scribbled"?

I have a Aspire Digital Progressive Scan DVD Player AD N82OB. When I first acquired it from someone else, it worked fine, yet I didn't have the remote for it. So I was trying to code one of thsoe universal remotes to it, and was also plugging the wires in (turned it upside down and vertical a few times while it was playing)...etc...Now the image seems to be B&W and I can barely look at the TV for more than 30 seconds because the "scribbling"/"blinking" (like a horrible connection) is something that would give even the most healthy person an epileptic seizure.
