changing a bulb?

I've just spent 2 hours trying to release the spring without any luck, there must be an easier way!! It appears that the spring when pushed forward (as per the handbook) gets jammed against the hole that the bulb sits in so can't be twisted clockwise (again as per the handbook).
Now where's the phone directory for the local Halfords!!!!

Had to do this twice now, once on each side!! Halfords don't always want to know and the instructions in the hand book are pretty poor, But with a vanity mirror, torch, a spare pair of hands ( and a hat to stop you banging your head on the bonnet catch) it can be done. The trick is to be able to see the damn spring in the mirror so that when you then go in 'blind' you know what your doing and it can be easily 'pinged off'. Once bulb is replaced then replace the rubber, then refix the electric plug connector.

If it is anything like my 2003 Micra 1.2 SE, the answer is - with great difficulty! You need to get behind it from under the bonnet and pull really hard when there isn't even enough room to get your fingers in there (and I've got small hands). I would pay someone at Halfords to do it if I had to do it again.
