Ok so my problem is a little different, I recently had a little knock and had to change the headlights as the person who backed in to my car smashed both headlight covers and internal parts too .... Upon replacing the whole units my left side headlight now doesn't work and my right side dip beam has the same problem... I have changes the bulbs and the fuses and still no luck my MOT is this weekend coming and need to get this fixed soon and suggestions guys?

My daughter has just had the same problem with her 05 Corsa. Side lights and High beam ok, but main beam not working. The problem turned out to be both High beam light bulbs blown at the same time. Unusual and not what you would expect to happen, but the fact is replacing both bulbs sorted out the problem.

If your fuses and bulbs are ok, its almost certainly the light control stalk by the steering wheel that's causing the problem.

The good news is that they are very easy to replace - you just need a phillips screwdriver and 10 minutes.

Unscrew the cover around the base of the steering wheel and take it off. The stalk then unclips and pulls out. Try wobbling it around a bit with the lights on and the main beam on - if its only slightly worn you might get the lights flicking on and off.

Go to a scrap yard and get a replacement if they haven't already all gone - its a common problem. Otherwise pay about £40 from a Vauxhall dealer.

If getting one from a scrap yard, note that there are two types: One has a single row of contacts, whilst the second has two rows. If you have the single row type, you can still use the two row type, but not vice-versa.

I have the exact same problem. My side lights are fine but both main beam lights are not working. Fuses are fine and light bulbs look fine although i have not taken them out to look properly as have to take bumper off to replace lights. I didn't know if it maybe faulty switch or lose wiring, Any ideas?

I ve recently had exactly the same problem after a minor bump in the snow it turned out it was just a case of both bulbs going at the same time on my 04 reg sxi model, remove the square white cover and inspect the filiment of the bulb and see if its broken if so new bulbs are needed, the drivers side bulb is easier to get out than the passenger side one. give it a try?

My Corsa dipped beams both died about a second after I turned them on yesterday. After wasting time checking out the main beam bulbs (I'm used to the H4 bulbs with main and dip in the same bulb) I finally noticed where the dip beam H7 bulbs were located. First one looked fine, but second was definitely gone and when I checked the 'good' looking one for resistance it was 'open circuit' ie dead. Two new bulbs from the local garage and all is well again! I think when the first bulb blew it perhaps caused a slight voltage surge which the second (5yr old) bulb couldn't handle.
