Hi just cut through cable on hedge trimmers.put it all together and it's still not working.ive also found a black piece and I don't know where it's come from or where it goes

Please email your photo - I cannot work out where the black 'hairpin shape goes, and whether there is a bit missing. (It all flew apart when I opened it up to repair the cable)

Just got my trigger switch assembly back together.
Its the odd shaped bit of plastic that act acts as the micro switch interlock that has to go in just the right way. Now I have done it I can take a photo if anyone wants the info on such an old trimmer.
