How do i change the cable drum on my dyson dc02 standard?

Obtained new cable drum after old one began to retract the cable constantly. Expected basic instructions to enable replacement, Dyson refuse to help because of health and safety laws??

Looks as though only way to fit will be to remove base, when I find correct hexagonal screw removers!
How difficult is this or is it a service repair?
