how can i fix my ford galaxy?

my ford galaxy keeps over heating when i am stuck in traffic or i am in my car for a long time.
the water is not circulating what can i do to fix this problem?

hi john, change thermostat,change thermal switch for radiator fan if these do not cure the problem have a compression test for head gasket,hopfully it's oneof the first two.best of luck
