TAKE THE PLUG OUT OF THE SOCKET FIRST!!!
Remove the top panel. (Two screws at the back on the back plate, slide back and lift off).
Remove the two side panels. (Three screws down the back edge and one underneath, slide them back and off)
Remove the top of the white plastic cover by the motor by pushing the retaining clips back from their holding bars. One is difficult with big hands, try using long screw drivers but don't ruin the clips or they will never part.
Hold the cover up and remove the circular disc inside the assembly. (A certain amount of brute force and gentle persuasion is needed)
Reach into the housing and remove the fan retaining clip with pliers then pull the fan off the shaft.
Remove the two screws at the top on either side of the front of the dryer and gently pull the front (door) section forward. The drum will come away from the running edge and drop down.
Thread the new belt down the front of the drum and onto the end of the shaft.
Pull the belt up and over the drum, then slide the drum back onto the runner and push the front back into place. (Make sure it all lines up with the guides)
Work the belt back along the drum and shaft, threading it through the tensioner pulleys. Turning the drum will help.
Get the belt lined up on the multi 'v' section of the drive shaft. Turn the drum by hand a few times to make sure it runs square.
You can at this point plug it back in and try it, everything should work and the drum should turn.
Unplug the thing again and replace the fan and clip by reversing what you did to remove them. Put the white plastic cover back in and before closing it up slide the seperating disc into the slots in the housing. Clip the two sections together again.
Make sure all the wiring is away from the sides so it won't rub or short, (Tape it back if you had to snip the retaining tie on the cover) and replace the sides and top. Plug it back in and present the wife with her new refurbished tumble dryer. Many brownie points earned!!
Oh, and while its in bits you might as well give it a good clean, try removing the internal door section to get all the trapped dust out. Just take all the screws surrounding the door out, (four on each side of the door) then pull the inner away from the door. Give it a blast with the hose then, once you have got into dry clothes, put it back where it came from. Do the same with the condenser and away you go!
