How do I get into my Kenmore Progressive cannister to replace cord???

I came on this site for help in getting the canister open on my Kenmore Progressive Vacuum Model # 116.20712007. I had the same question a few others did about getting at the screws under the Grey recoil button. I wanted to let you know that it is possible to put a screw driver under the button on pry it up. I put the flathead in about as far as it would go and pulled up gradually wiggling as I went and it popped up. I did the other side and it was off - no problem. Once I had it off - being an engineer - I examined it to see if there would have been an easier way. Other than some type of special tool, the screw driver seems to be the only way.
